A weekly rhythm for safeguarding reconciliations
Daily reconciliations sound virtuous and often die after the third hire leaves. A durable weekly rhythm beats an abandoned daily ritual.
Monday: export bank balances for each safeguarding account and match them to the customer liability sub-ledger. Tuesday: clear identified timing differences older than forty-eight hours. Wednesday: dual-control review of any manual adjustment. Thursday: file the pack with initials and timestamps. Friday: escalate unresolved items to the compliance officer in writing.
This cadence leaves a story an auditor can sample. During controls reviews we look for evidence that exceptions moved, not merely that a spreadsheet existed. If your product settles on weekends, document the weekend rule once and stop reinventing it every sprint planning meeting.
Firms that keep this rhythm rarely need heroic clean-ups two weeks before a licensing readiness audit.
